From witty repartee to swoon worthy kisses and THAT PERFECT NON-DATE SCENE THAT HAD ME IN FULL ON KICKING GIGGLING MODE, I WAS ENAMORED IMMEDIATELY. these two quirky teens are very funny and entertaining, and you can tell because they have nicknames for each other that they relentlessly use in their heads. I'm a huge fan of Lynn Painter, almost all of the time her stories lift my spirts, make me crack up and get all giddy and kick my feet. it was so out of touch for bailey to just place a bet that her best friend would get with a guy, and not let nekesa know so she could avoid a big conflict with her boyfriend.

This book was also super easy and enjoyable to read- it's a great bingeable read to get you out a reading slump 🥰 There was also divorce rep that was a big part of the book, which i really appreciated. The writing was so quick witted, the scenes so heartfelt and the characters so authenticity teenagers, that it will likely be one of my favourite books of the year. charlie’s a creep and bailey reminds me of one of those kids that says her experience with ‘just dance’ deserves some kind of therapy. Charlie’s cynicism didn’t mix well with Bailey’s carefully well-behaved temperament, and his endless commentary was the irritating cherry on top of an already emotionally fraught trip. There is probably no “right” way to handle this and every situation is different but we are kind of led to believe that Bailey and her mother were super close before Scott and now it feels like Scott is always there.

And then at the end it’s resolved but in a way that doesn’t answer any of the questions Bailey had or address any of her hurt feelings and issues of abandonment. He falls first, but can't get past his past relationships always falling apart so he pulls away when she finally reciprocates his feelings. in the beginning of the book he tries to come off as cool and different for not following laws but to me that only made him annoying. I could have done with a little bit less of Charlie being a complete ass and trying to ignore his feelings, but I liked the way things worked out in the end.I loved every page honestly, and am wondering why on earth I haven’t read a Lynn Painter book before. A lot of the book deals with both Bailey and Charlie’s feelings about their parents separating and dating again (more Bailey than Charlie, who doesn’t tend to disclose as much).
