Description

As with most sonic toothbrushes, this model is very quiet, at just 71.2dB. That’s loud enough that you can hear it, but the high-pitched buzz isn’t distracting or annoying. Why buy the Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 6100? Some models refer to this mode as just White, whilst on others, it is labelled as White+. It is the same cleaning action, just with a different name. The brush head also tells the toothbrush which mode to select: using a gum care brush head will select the optimal mode, although you can always override the setting.

Given the sonic nature of the toothbrushes, the number of strokes can be measured with a frequency meter app on your phone. Of course, having the brush in question would be required, or having a good audio recording of one. The UK electric toothbrush market tends to operate on a policy of very high recommended retail prices, but in reality, sell at significantly lower prices anywhere between 20-60% less. As with most electric toothbrushes, the ProtectiveClean 6100 has a built-in timer that will pulse every 30 seconds to encourage you to move onto the next quadrant of your teeth. It’ll turn itself off after two minutes of cleaning to tell you you’re done with brushing for now. The brush also sports a pressure sensor. Press too hard while brushing and this will give you pulse and red light on the brush handle warning you to ease off. Bychanging either the amplitude or the frequency; or varying one or both of them during the brushing cycle, the different cleaning/brushing modes are achieved. E.g. Gentle/Sensitive modes will operate at a lower amplitude than Clean mode. Brushing intensity

Frequencyis defined as the number of cycles the power toothbrush bristles move within a unit of time (i.e. 1 Hz: 120 strokes per minute) The ProtectiveClean 4300 has 1 cleaning mode (Clean) compared to the 3 cleaning modes (Clean, White and Gum Care) of the 5100. The polishing motion used in the last 40 seconds of this mode will feel and sound different from the first 2 minutes. Our experience with the Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 6100 was nothing but pleasant. Brushing performance is excellent, and the sonic vibrations do a great job cleaning your teeth and leaving you with a fresh-feeling gob.

The ProtectiveClean 4300 has 1 cleaning mode (Clean) compared to the 3 cleaning modes (Clean, White and Gum Care) of the 6100. You should be aware that if you are using a Sonicare toothbrush that has BrushSync technology depending on which brush head is fitted, the brush will automatically select the ‘best’ mode unless overridden by you as the user. Sonicare brushes are labelled with the cleaning modes they have The Easy-start feature gently increases the power over the first 14 brushings to help you get used to the brushing with the Philips Sonicare toothbrush.Keep the power on/off button pressed until you hear a series of two short beeps (after 4-5 seconds).

The remaining minute uses a slower and less powerful sensitive/massage mode to stimulate and massage the gums, to improve their health. The DailyClean line is the most affordable range of Sonicare toothbrushes. Whether you choose the DailyClean 1100, 2100, or 3100, you'll get a single brushing mode and a timer to help you spend 30 seconds brushing each quadrant of your month. Ideally suited to those who have mild sensitivity in their gums, with occasional bleeding and are getting or recovering from gum disease treatment. Typically, it is advised to break the mouth up into 4 sections, upper right, upper left, lower right and lower left. The idea is 30 seconds are spent on each section of the mouth. After 2 minutes the result will be a fairly even clean across all teeth. It should be noted that some Sonicare models have the option to change the intensity of the brushing motion. The 4300 comes with 1 x C2 Optimal Plaque Defence brush head compared to the 1 x G2 Optimal Gum Health & 1 x W2 Optimal White brush head with the 5100 (White & Light Blue variant HX6859/17 comes with just 1 x G2 Optimal Gum Health) . In theory, the more speed the motor has the more effective the clean is, because the bristles move more frequently over the tooth and gum surfaces.
