If you often find that you’re sliding around in weightlifting shoes or as though you can’t get them tight enough, I don’t think you’ll have these issues with the Nike Romaleos 4. The Legacy Lifter 3 also features a full rubber outsole with ribbed tread patterning and cutout at the heel and the midfoot of the forefoot. Both of these shoes have equal levels of grip on wooden platforms and rubber gym floors. Midsole and Heel Third and lastly, this shoe’s high-density EVA foam midsole’s stability should be plenty fine for beginners. When squatting up to 3 plates and more and when cleaning over 250 lbs, I never had issues with the stability in this model. The first thing to like about the Reebok Lifter PR 3 is that they can be a good beginner weightlifting shoe for three key reasons. First, they have a lower price point which makes them a little more inclusive for a wider range of lifters. The heel elevation of the Reebok Lifter PR II comes in at 15mm/.6″ which is fairly low compared to other models. If you’ve never trained with an elevated heel, then opting for a lower heel elevation could be useful for acclimation purposes and to see what height would be best for your needs.

The outsole tread is also a nice perk of this shoe for squatting. No matter the surface you’re squatting on, I don’t think you’ll have traction or slip issues in this model which is great for lifters that vary the surfaces they train on.First, this shoe features a stable and lightweight graphene-infused power heel. Compared to other weightlifting shoes, this model has a lighter weight which is great for more dynamic training sessions. If you’re looking for new weightlifting shoes, you may have considered the Reebok Legacy Lifter 3 versus the Reebok Lifter PR 3. These are two new models from Reebok that deliver strong performances.

Personally, I find the price point to be a little high for the Reebok Legacy Lifter III and I think that’s due to it receiving updates that haven’t necessarily drastically improved this shoe’s performance. A weightlifting shoe will have anywhere from .5 inches to 1 inch of heel elevation, which puts the foot into a plantarflexed position when wearing these shoes. Plantarflexion means that your toes are flexed downwards below the heel (dorsiflexion is flexing upwards). On top of this, if you find yourself wanting heel elevation for your squats, then a weightlifting shoe is a much better option than using a plate under the heel as a weightlifting shoe’s sole will give your foot more surface area which can then, in turn, can increase your stability and balance. This is a good shoe for beginner weightlifters who want to dip their toes in the water without spending a ton of money. If you have narrow and neutral-width feet and have a flatter midfoot, then I could see you enjoying how this shoe fits. However, for wider feet, I think you’ll be cramped in the toe box and you may want to look into options like the TYR L-1 Lifter. The Reebok Legacy Lifter 3 and Reebok Lifter PR 3 are both good Reebok shoes to lift in. These shoes will be best for athletes wanting to push their squats, snatches, clean and jerks, and other lower body exercises. Takeaway Thoughts That being said, I think if you have high arches or use inserts/orthotics, then you may find this model somewhat uncomfortable. The upper volume in this model is pretty tight through the base of the forefoot which could feel limiting for these contexts.
