About this deal

Going back to the first part of this review: I’m thinking about others who are perhaps earlier in their whiskey journey. They believe their distillation process ensures their bourbon’s rich, powerful flavour and the addition of red winter wheat adds a necessary smoothness. Knob Creek Single Barrel Reserve: a 120 proof (60% ABV) single barrel bourbon, was introduced in 2010. Maybe they’ve tried the entry-level offerings from a handful of the larger Kentucky distilleries and are looking to move up the range, but aren’t yet chasing the allocated bottles or limited editions. Comments: The current cuvee is based on the 2008 vintage with 14% reserve wines from 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005.

While each vatting patiently ages in white oak, the distillers continue to raise the standards, fulfilling their commitment to full flavour. Chances are high that every bourbon enthusiast has had a sip of this bottle at some point in their life.

Knob Creek Rye: a 100 proof (50% ABV) straight rye whiskey bearing the Knob Creek name was released in 2012. The primary expression of the brand is aged for 9 years and bottled at 100 proof (higher than the typical 2 years and 80 proof that are the minimums required by U.

We had been training the 206th Engineer Battalion and when the day was over, we’d go find a local place to eat. Produced by Jim Beam, it’s a traditional blend with years spent maturing and a spicy sweetness which is warmly satisfying. Knob Creek is a small-batch brand of bourbon whiskey that was created by Jim Beam master distiller Booker Noe to embody the look, feel and taste of pre-prohibition bourbon. Then I found the Knob Creek 9 Year on sale and, partly due to the 120 proof, it rocketed into my top-10. This is the first Knob Creek whiskey not to carry an age statement, instead being advertised only as "Patiently Aged". The General Wine Company sources wines from all over the world, but with a particular focus on small, independent producers. It’s something I still think about whenever I’m tasting this or any of the other half-dozen labels they’ve rolled out with over the years. A now delisted product and hard to get hold of as either the old 9 year old or the non age statement that replaced it.
