Hi Jim, I brought four that was left on the shelf, when I googled them got photos and inside there is a nylon mesh, I thought there was something inside, I could not hear the propane inside.We’ve decided to normally use the big tank and keep the little refillable as a spare for when and if the large tank gets emptied away from a nearby propane refill station.

The way that propane combusts isn't particularly different from other commonly used gasses for backpacking stoves. The other end of the copper strip is put near the flames, conducting heat to vaporize the liquid fuel in the fuel inlet tube. Negative bonus points if you are using the modular lid, as you will create a very impressive geyser of molten chai on top of a blowtorch. The main advantage to running propane is that it's boiling point is -40 so it's a better fuel to use winter camping. As stated in one of my earlier replies, I am camping solo, quick meals on the go, I have the pot adapter + Jetboil skillet for cooking food if necessary.Not only that, but you have to be about 20 Fahrenheit degrees (10 Celsius degrees) above the vaporization point before you have consistently good pressure.

From what I understand the Minimo has an adjustable flame whereas the Flash does not, which may make cooking a little easier? First, I have to find a spot well sheltered from the wind, flat-ish and big enough to accommodate the tripod stove, the windscreen and the gas canister (connected to the stove via a tube). I had to file the melted bit at home very patiently with a metal file, to make it smooth and flush with the rest of the plastic base so it would fit inside the cook pot again.The upside is that you retain the heat advantage of the FluxRing while adding frying or simmering-in-pot to your camping cooking options.
