However, Vince Guaraldi will always be known as the man who introduced generations of children to the joys of jazz – having scored years’ worth of PEANUTS specials - certainly, the instantly recognizable “ Linus and Lucy” remains his most famous track.A Charlie Brown Christmas is one of those albums that fits a peaceful household wishing to avoid ostentatious celebration with tunes just as iconic as the TV special it accompanies but without the overdone pop-culture abrasiveness of Jingle Bells. One of the most beloved and iconic holiday albums of all-time, this best-selling perennial classic continues to introduce generations of children to the joys of jazz, year after year, with songs like 'Christmas Time Is Here' and the instantly recognizable 'Linus and Lucy. What Child Is This is based around the sweet but sad melody of Greensleeves, while the version of O Tannenbaum opens with Guaraldi playing the melody alone at the piano, his performance filled with pauses. This one-time only pressing is presented in a Foil Board sleeve with embossed Christmas Tree on top of standard jacket.

Plus, it's housed in a replica of the original cover, with tip on artwork and nice, heavy cardboard. It never touches the sonic cliches of Christmas music, and manages to convey the complete range of emotions you might feel about the season. com/collections/exclusive-vinyl/products/vince_guaraldi_trio-a_charlie_brown_christmas_exclusive_starburst_lp? As a side-effect, he secured prime-time exposure for jazz in an era when most jazz artists would have struggled to get anywhere near prime-time television.I picked up the RSD edition of this last year, so I’ll pass on this one as mine sounds great and I like it’s festive colour. A great pressing, although surface noise is a bit frequent (I can only assume this is due to the lo-fi production of the album), although spindle holes are a bit too small, the color of the record isn't too appealing (but for anyone who prefers any color over an average black it's totally fine), and I feel like the packaging could be a bit better. Craft Recordings kindly sent me a copy of the proper new 180g 2LP edition for this review, and I’m happy to report it’s generally a great listening experience. The lenticular will be shrink-wrapped to the outer jacket so it can be framed or showcased separately from the album as the work of art that it is. Most of the tracks are twinkly piano numbers, with a few choral pieces thrown in, and all of them have the warmth that you want at Christmas.

However, if you love this album and want to hear Vince Guaraldi and his trio in as close-to-first-gen quality as possible, then you owe it to yourself to hear this new version. Shroeder's affinity for Beethoven gives the album a natural gravitation towards classical and there is a version of Für Elise on Side B. Part of this is based on the fact that when producing its vinyl albums, PS Audio does not compress the dynamic range during the transfer process, and the warmth is still there.
