Laura has had a varied career in meteorology since graduating from The University of Reading with a BSc in Physics & Meteorology in 2003. She joined the Met Office as a forecaster soon after, her first role was commercial forecaster at Cardiff weather centre, providing weather forecasts for energy companies, gritters and local radio. In 2004 she provided local and global forecasts to Pilots and crew at RAF Brize Norton, flying local training missions, plus personnel & cargo all over the World. Alex grew up in Bristol where he still lives today. As a child he spent a lot of time with his weather obsessed grandmother who sparked an interest in him from a young age. A few years on Alex developed an interest in the media and by chance an opportunity came up to combine his two interests at ITV West Country. Since 2005 Alex has been part of the weather team and his responsibilities also stretch across ITV Network Weather and Good Morning Britain. He’s also presented a number of weather documentaries on Channel 4. Alex also has a passion for current affairs and can be seen presenting ITV’s ‘Tonight’ programme. I was absolutely delighted at the release of Meet the Weather after being so fond of the other books in this series. Meet the Planets and Meet the Oceans have been used regularly in my Key Stage One and Early years teaching and I just knew this book would be equally as valuable.

When Aisling is not in the office she is busy running around after her two young boys who don’t seem one bit interested in the weather! Laura is very passionate about communicating climate change to the ITV audience & has presented many items on GMB plus a Tonight special about the changing weather in the UK. In January 2020 she went viral when she challenged Australian MP Craig Kelly about his views on Climate change when talking about the Australian wildfires. Amanda is also a qualified yoga and meditation teacher and is passionate about promoting mental wellbeing within local communities and newsroom environments.
