About this deal

The N950 was meant to be the N9-00 with the old N9 'Lankku' being N9-01, however the N9-00 model number was used for the all touch 'Lankku' with the original design being the MeeGo developer-only N950. The Nokia Eseries is an enterprise-class series with business-optimized products. They are all smartphones and run on Symbian.

Networking: Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR. Bluetooth Profiles: Headset, Hands–free, Dial–up Networking, Stereo, Phone Book Access, Basic Printing, Object Push (for vCard & vCal), File Transfer, Basic Imaging. USB 2.0. Like many Verizon feature phones, the Twist is a dual-band (800/1900 MHz) EV-DO Rev 0 device with no Wi-Fi. Voice quality was very good overall, providing you don't mind a tinny quality to the sound in the earpiece. There was no static, hiss, or dropouts. Callers on the other end said I sounded perfectly clear the entire time. Reception was on the low side; the Twist spent more time in 1xRTT mode than other nearby Verizon handsets, and usually showed one or two bars less. The gritty-sounding speakerphone was tough to hear, even in a quiet room indoors. Calls sounded great when paired with a Plantronics Voyager Pro Bluetooth headset. Battery life was quite good for a Verizon handset at 5 hours and 58 minutes of talk time. Music and megapixel imaging both eat away at your memory allocation, and Nokia has improved on past L'Amour models by providing room for expandable memory up to 2GB. Hidden away under the battery, the bundled 128MB MicroSD card isn't hot-swappable and you'll probably want to invest in a larger capacity - but it's a step in the right direction at least. The Toshiba G450 was made with a weird three-disc design. Two discs held the number pad, while a third disc held the display. The compact phone weighed just 57 grams, but usability was (predictably) affected by the idiosyncratic layout. The remote-like appearance of the G450 didn’t find many fans, but the G450 at least got points for functionality, with uses as a phone, MP3 player, HSDPA modem and USB device. All four are commonplace in the era of smartphones, but for a dumbphone it’s not a bad count. Samsung Galaxy Beam (2012) The Nokia 4000 series was officially skipped as a sign of deference from Nokia towards East Asian customers. The best Nokia smartphones you can buy in 2023

Like the 1000 series, the 2000 series are entry-level phones. However, the 2000 series generally contain more advanced features than the 1000 series; many 2000 series phones feature color screens and some feature cameras, Bluetooth and even A-GPS, GPS such as in the case of the Nokia 2710. All this makes for a good value proposition – especially since the Nokia 5.4 is now selling for less than when we reviewed it. So there we have it – fifteen weird phones. It’s tempting to say that these phones are failures, and in some instances they are, but I prefer to think of them as necessary missteps in the quest for better design. Along the same lines, Samsung and Nokia are well-represented here, but it’s hardly an indictment of their design teams. Instead, it’s more a reflection of their market-leading positions which allowed them to try – and keep trying – oddball designs. The Nokia 3000 series are mostly mid-range phones targeted towards the youth market. Many of these models included youthful designs to appeal to the teen market, unlike the 6000-series which were more conservatively styled to appeal to business users, and the 7000-series which were usually more feminine and mature in design to appeal to fashionable women.

It's not exactly an expensive phone either, compared to some of the flagships you can buy today, so if you want a photographic smartphone powerhouse without taking a chunk out of your bank account, this may be the phone for you.

It’s not just nostalgia – Nokia has some superb-value smartphones to choose from. We’ll help you find one that’s right for you

Our next fashion-conscious phone was the Samsung Serene. The phone came with an unusual jewellery box design, designed by Bang & Olufsen. The circular keypad was a pain to use (a common flaw in this list), and despite a helping mechanism the phone took some time to open. The battery and SIM card required a screwdriver to access, and the camera was mounted on the side, which made lining up photos difficult. Despite its shortcomings, the Serene was a memorable smartphone design. Samsung X830 (2006) Those phones are entry-level, classic mobile phones platform (with relatively long work on battery). The series was sold in 2014 to Microsoft which continued branding these products under Nokia. Microsoft sold this series to HMD Global in 2016 which also continues branding these products under Nokia. The Nokia 6000 series is Nokia's largest family of phones. It consists mostly of mid-range to high-end phones containing a high number of features. The 6000 series is notable for their conservative, unisex designs, which make them popular among business users. Every smartphone we review is tested using our standardised list of benchmarks. We begin with performance and GPU testing, where we use the Geekbench and GFXBench apps available on the Google Play store. These tests provide us with performance figures which are used to directly compare against their predecessors and similarly priced competitors.
