I have been working in Montessori classrooms since 2004 and have been running my own school since 2008. At my school, I offer parent-child Montessori classes at Jacaranda Tree Montessorihere in Amsterdam. The Montessori philosophy differs from traditional parenting practices in many ways, and can be easily identified in most situations. Here are a few of the defining characteristics you’ll see in environments with Montessori toddlers. Prepared Environment There are certain periods – called sensitive periods– when the child is very interested in one kind of activity. It can be climbing, transporting things, focus on small details or language. Implementing Montessori for toddlers, whether at home or at a school, provides many benefits. Children thrive when Montessori practices are used in their environments. Benefits of Montessori for Toddlers This is an interesting book, though it gets repetitive at times, therefore I didn't fully go through with it. Nevertheless, the parts I did process had some useful advice. With hundreds of practical ideas for every aspect of living with a toddler, here are five principles for feeding your child’s natural curiosity, from “Trust in the child” to “Fostering a sense of wonder.” Step-by-step ways to cultivate daily routines with ease, like brushing teeth, toilet-training, dealing with siblings, losing the pacifier. Plus learn how to: Using Montessori for toddlers means that we, as the prepared adult, are purposeful, patient, intentional and allow our children to guide us and choose how they spend their own time. Setting their environment up to be easily accessible provides them the ultimate freedom to develop the autonomy they so desperately crave. make sure nothing is missing (for example, puzzle pieces or parts of a toy without which a process won't work) While allowing children to have fun and be creative, the puzzle gives children a sense of what wood feels like, help them identify shapes as well as improve their maths and motor skills. Montessori nursery and school age ranges putting together activities as little kits that your child has access to, can set up themselves, and do alone with minimal help.

when showing something, do it on your own paper. You don't know the child's intention and your input might jeopardize their plans. This is amazing!! Thank you so much Simone!!! An invaluable reference indeed, so great to have it all in one place. That must have been so much work. Very grateful.” This is the book I recommend most to parents. It made such a difference to how I communicate with my own children and in my work with babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers. After her studies, she worked with mentally impaired children, observed them, and noticed that they can learn many things that seemed impossible if provided the right environment, practice, and materials. Montessori nurseries and schools have age-appropriate classrooms that let children learn through play using specially designed Montessori toys and resources. I love the book. Thank you very much. It is so comprehensive and beautifully presented, perfect illustrations. Take care and once again wonderful work and thank you.”

Informacija pateikta labai glaustai, estetiškai ir papildyta nuostabiomis iliustracijomis bei nuotraukomis. Beginning from the moment they are born, children can benefit from many of the Montessori philosophies. Respecting the child, involving the child in every day activities, and preparing purposeful activities for children are a huge component of Montessori life that is easy to incorporate at home. In a Montessori Parent-Child Class, you and your child will interact alongside a Montessori-trained teacher in a thoughtfully prepared environment. These activities will support your child’s sense of discovery and encourage independent investigation of the learning environment. In the class, you and your child will experience an environment set up to encourage movement, language, and learning through hands-on activities—all of which you can then apply at home. The Montessori Classroom Environment for Infants & Toddlers avoid talking, since the child might not be able to understand whether they should watch your hands or your mouth (note to self: hmmm, interesting) For me personally, it is a question of degree – a caterpillar eating sweets in a book that is otherwise factually correct is something different than a book about unicorns. So I am willing to overlook this little “fantasy injection” because the book has many other qualities that are in accordance with the Montessori approach – therefore I would still call it “Montessori-friendly”.Montessori teachers and parents are guides (or, as Maria Montessori used to say, gardeners). We can provide the right conditions and point in the right direction, but we show respect to the way our children decide to go.
