By the end of this review, we’ll let you know whether Bostik patio grout is the best option for your next paving project. Once your patio has been laid (if you are laying a new one) fully wet it using a garden hose. You’ll need a lot of water for the resin to bind with, otherwise you may end up with stains.
Grout is applied between paving slabs or tiles, keeping them in place, protecting from water damage and preventing weeds. Here’s some advice to help choose the best patio grout. The application method is Wash-and-Sweep, as firstly you will need to fully saturate the patio, especially right down into all the gaps between the stones. The manufacturer recommends using a garden hose or other water sprayer to make sure that the wet mixture reaches the bottom of the gaps. Once the gaps are full, turn the hose onto the patio stones off wash off the excess grout.Once fully compacted, any excess can be safely swept away and then provided there’s no chance of rain for at least 10 hours, you can leave Bostik paving grout to cure all by itself fully! I used this 2 years ago.It was very expensive for small bags that didn't go far. It was easy to apply, but has never properly hardened. After 2 years i have been able to break it up with a spike using only hand force. I would not use this stuff again, even if I was given it free This grout can simply be brushed into the joints and compacted by hand. There’s no mixing required and, unlike many other products, you don’t need to keep the paving wet as you work. In fact, it should be dry whilst spreading the grout.

They’re also quite an expensive grout and are more commonly used for indoor areas like showers rather than large spaces like patios. With no harsh chemicals or added setting agents, you won’t need to worry about damaging or discolouring your natural stone tiles. As Bostik paving grout is fully permeable, it can be used in installations with regular rainfall. Some epoxy grout products come with liquid resin, hardener and sand. Others come with a resin mixed with a sand compound and a hardener mixed with a sand compound. The latter needs water added. The resin and hardener will need to be mixed together in the correct ratio so that the grout will set properly. We’ve used Bostik jointing compound with concrete slabs, slate, clay, terracotta and even sandstone, finding it to provide a solid and mess-free seal with excellent curb appeal! Long lastingThis type of grout tends to be more durable than pre-mixed grout. Once hardened, it should last over 10 years, and your patio should also be able to withstand jet washing. Traditional Sand and Cement Mix Make sure you’ve prepared your grouting area completely (power washing, moss removal etc.) before your start the grouting job and plan it all out carefully beforehand. Most of these types of grout state that you can even apply them in wet weather – useful in the UK summertime. Weather conditions will usually affect how long it takes the grouting to set and fully cure. Dry weather above 15℃ and below 25℃ is optimal. Though the two colours that Bostik patio grout comes in do suit most paver styles, it would be nice to have a wider variety of options, and whilst a curing time of 10 hours is far from the longest wait time we’ve seen, there are a few products that dry much faster! Colours Sika FastFix All-Weather Self-Setting Paving and Jointing Compound is an easy to apply (by sweeping it into the gaps) resin grout that dries hard in a matter of hours. It avoids puddling on your patio by letting water seep down through it but stops unsightly vegetation from growing by preventing weeds from coming through. And don’t worry about pressure washing your patio, but do try to avoid directing a strong spray on the grout.
