Description

Newleaf is a great expansion that adds so much to the game, but without changing the mechanics up too much. Newleaf comes with new cards to shuffle into the main deck, special events deck, and forest spaces deck, as well as two new basic event tiles that can be scored. The other Station space lets you discard one of the face up visitor cards, and then choose one of the two face-up visitors to place in your city. The game increases in weight slightly with more considerations on your turn even when only playing with the station board and new cards. Newleaf constructions allow certain types of critters to be played into them again with a golden token.

Everdell: Newleaf, Mistwood, and The Complete Collection

Its one of the best next step expansions after you have played the base game with the player power module from the Bellfaire expansion. This is a more of the same expansion in terms of cards and new worker placement locations but with some added scoring opportunities for fulfilling visitors requests.

For this reason I would only play with any of the elements of the expansion when players are fully comfortable with the base game and even Bellfaire so they are used to player powers. Everdell offers something for everyone; it is an easy to learn and accessible board game, making Everdell Standard Edition an excellent choice for new players, while The Complete Collection offers increased complexity, depth, and strategy for long-time gamers.

Everdell Newleaf Review | Zatu Games UK

In the knoll worker placement space you discard 3 cards from the meadow or station, refill and then draw 3 cards from either the meadow or station into your hand. The tickets and reservation tokens also give more options on your turn so your overall decisions space is much larger.

To use a Reservation Token, pick a card from the Meadow or Station, move it to your play area, and place the Reservation Token on it. Since we’re going to be talking about a game expansion, we’re not going to go into too much depth on Everdell itself.

Everdell: Newleaf | Board Game | BoardGameGeek

This board contains two worker placement locations where each player can only send one worker per round. The average playtime of the base game is increased slightly when playing with all the modules but if just playing with the station board it remains relatively similar to the base game. These offer end game scoring conditions for certain conditions such as having specific leftover resources or having certain card types in your city.

Generally you will find these a little easier to come across than perhaps pebbles, but I will say that scarcity of resources is a constant feeling when playing Everdell! Everdell's bustling city Newleaf has just opened its first train station, and many critters and big ideas are rolling in. This game offers a new board that sits to the right of the main board and it has the same beautiful graphic design that we have come to expect. If you are looking to bring a bit more variation to lower player count games of Everdell, then Newleaf is really a need rather than a recommend. For me this module is take it or leave it, it is so small that it can be easily incorporated but I don’t miss it if it is not there.
